What we can learn from magnetic Compton scattering: application to the determination of spin polarization
نویسنده
چکیده
Studies of spin-resolved electron momentum densities involve the measurement of the so-called magnetic Compton profile. This is a one-dimensional projection of the electron momentum distribution of only those electrons that contribute to the spin moment of a sample. The technique is applicable to ferriand ferromagnetic materials. The profile is obtained via the inelastic ‘Compton’ scattering of high energy X-rays. Since electrons originating from different atomic orbitals have specific momentum densities, it is often possible to determine the origin of the magnetism present. Typically, interpretation requires the use of electronic structure calculations using molecular orbital and band structure approaches. Here, we highlight the application of the technique to the determination of the Fermi level spin polarization, the knowledge of which is important to the development of novel spintronic materials.

Application of magnetic Compton scattering to magnetic material research
Recent topics on magnetic Compton-profile studies are reviewed. A compact introduction describes that the X-ray magnetic Compton-scattering method can be used to measure the momentum density of magnetic electrons, which may be said to be the extreme space-time self correlation of spins. Some examples show that the magnetic Compton profile provides information about the spin component of a magne...

The measurement of the polarization of cosmic microwave background (CMB) provides considerable useful information about different physical phenomena at the last scattering surface. The polarization of CMB is due to Compton scattering. In this work, we consider the parity violation of Compton scattering. Then we insert the new amplitude into the quantum Boltzmann equation and show that the forwa...
متن کاملThe Thermodynamic Properties of Polarized Metallic Nanowire in the Presence of Magnetic Field
In this article, the second quantization method has been used to investigate some thermodynamic properties of spin-polarized metallic nanowire in the presence of magnetic field at zero temperature. We have been observed that in different magnetic field, the equilibrium energy of system increases as the density increases. The spin-polarization parameter corresponding to the equilibrium state of ...

We examine manifestations of neutron electromagnetic polarizabilities in coherent Compton scattering from the helium-3 nucleus. We calculate gamma3He elastic scattering observables using chiral perturbation theory to next-to-leading order [O(e2Q)]. We find that the unpolarized differential cross section can be used to measure neutron electric and magnetic polarizabilities, while two double-pola...
متن کاملScattering mechanism of nonmagnetic phase on nano diluted magnetic semiconductors (DMS)
This paper shows the scattering mechanism at diluted magneticsemiconductors. The doped magnetic atom produces a scattering potential due to becoupled of itinerant carrier spin of host material with magnetic momentum of the dopedmagnetic atom. Formulas of scattering event were rewritten by the plane waveexpansion and then the electron mobility of DMS was calculated. Calculations showKondo effect...
